When SKYY Spirits came to Lambesis in 1998, the challenge was to create a global brand image that would generate interest among young consumers and create brand awareness in a category already dominated by the competition. To distinguish the brand from the rest of the market, Lambesis set out to develop communications that would be image-based stories of cinematic cocktail moments featuring the distinctive blue bottle. The resulting SKYY campaign has contributed to double-digit sales growth in almost each of its fourteen years with Lambesis. In 2000, SKYY Vodka exceeded the one million case mark, followed by two million cases in 2004. Impact Databank, the authority on liquor and spirits rankings in the U.S., has recognized the brand’s rapid ascent by assigning SKYY the prestigious Hot Brand Award for eleven consecutive years. Lambesis’ campaign for SKYY has been cited as a case study in effective positioning, branding and creative strategy in multiple marketing and advertising textbooks.
